Welcome to my personal homepage. I am currently Lecturer in European Politics in the Department of European & International Studies at King’s College London. Here you’ll find pretty much everything I do that is work-related plus a long-intended blog that I will get off the ground one day.
Prior to joining King’s I held an ESRC Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Department of Politics at the University of Sussex. I obtained my PhD from the Department of Government at the University of Essex in 2008 where I also completed my MA in European Politics. Both my MA and PhD were fully funded by the ESRC.
My research and teaching interests lie the in fields of comparative politics and comparative political economy. I am particularly interested in the effects of institutions on political outcomes. To date, my research has focussed primarily on coalition formation, cabinet survival, economic inequality, and the politics of redistribution.
Prior to my career in academia I worked in the private sector for a number of independent research and policy organizations during which time I completed policy evaluations using quasi-experimental methods as well as a number of policy position papers.
